[It was rather late, but it was also the end of a shift for Kor. He was on his way home, and by chance, he decided to pass by the Tree. Now and again he likes to see what's going on with it. Never for long, just a couple minutes to check on its state, see if anything has changed about it. So he never expected to be called out, not at this time of night, at least.]

--Oh, Red!

[It was Red. He hadn't seen the boy since Sosyne's attack. He was sure the boy had been around, but their paths just never happened to cross since that time. So, in a way, it was a bit of a relief to see him, alive and well and here.

Kor walks on over in Red's direction. Sup dude?]

[ He doesn't pick himself up from where he sits, but red turns more so as to meet Kor as he approaches. There was only the lights of the lamps scattered around the area to really illuminate them, but they were enough to give the appearance that Kor looked well outwardly.

Always a good thing. ]

Hey. [ Red gives a nod. ] How are you? ...Are you always out this late?

[ Not that it's that late; it just gets dark earlier. Also, that's totally what someone younger should ask the older guy. ]

[Was it late? He hadn't really noticed. It was darker, sure, but... It didn't see like he was out any longer than usual.]

Uhh... Sometimes? I felt like I really needed to go for a walk after everything that's been happening, I guess...

...How about you? [Because really he should be asking the kid that question.]

[ It was late enough for people not to be around--because who would want to be. And that was exactly what Red wanted.

Not that Kor's presence was a bother. He shifts himself again, just to get comfortable. ]

Not out here... [ ah, wait; less about him-- ] You're with the Enforcers, right? Are people still getting into fights over the city?

[ Since that's the first thing that comes to his mind in regards to recent happenings. ...but then, maybe it would have been better to ask 'over the arehtei'. ]

[There's a weary sigh on his end.]

It's always one thing or another. If it's not over the city, then they're fighting over the Arehtei, or over the monsters, or this tree here... I just wish we could find a way to get everyone to just get along.

[ Really, Red agreed with that sentiment. If they could, things could move along more smoothly. There wasn't any reason why, though talks with the arehtei, with others- it holds his words, from simply just agreeing. ]

Not everybody cares about getting along. We already saw that... as soon as Thras revealed his city, posters were already going up attacking the city.

[ And with what speed it had happened too. Red pauses a moment, gaze drifting down. ]

...Do you think it's because they're scared?

It's easier to respond with fear and paranoia than it is with love and acceptance. Or at least the people here. [It's so easy for them, the Otherworlders to do it. But then again, they're the ones that are different here.]

What happened here while we were gone?

When? [ Give him a second here. ] You mean when people were doing the challenge?

[ A nod will suffice, if that's what Kor is referring to. ]

Yeah. I know you were guys were watching what we were doing, but... we didn't really have the same opportunity there.

I didn't watch, but nothing really happened, or nothing I heard about... everyone was just watching what was going on. It was like any other time in the city. And then...

[ His brow knots in, lips lining for a moment. ] When Shaarnath was revealed, it must've been shown too. Word about it spread around the city fast, and then-- all those posters started appearing. [ A pause, and he looks to Kor. ] Do you know what was on it? I saw them before the police stated taking them down.

We have one at the headquarters kept as evidence, so I saw what was on them then. [A pensive look forms on his face.] It's not looking good. Thras said that war could happen between Sharnaath and Verens, and these posters make it look like someone's trying to push for that.

War? [ How the heck- ] Over what? The things on that poster? That's crazy! There's nothing to back them up!

You're tellin' me. But... all it takes is a trigger like that to start conflict.

[ Red falls silent for a small moment, brow tightening over the thought. No, a war over nothing... really? ]

...But there's nothing stopping the two cities from talking to each other now and sharing whatever they know. I know Sharnaath wasn't revealed in the best way to everyone in Verens, but isn't a city down below a big deal? What's starting a war going to bring that talking won't?

I wish more people thought like you do about this stuff, Red. [There's a weary sigh. He tries to be ever the optimist, but... man, he's met a lot of shitty people in his short life.]

It's not gonna accomplish anything. But... People are afraid of those who are different from them.

...but it's just a possibility for now, isn't it? It doesn't have to turn out that way. Not everyone is the same.

[ He exhales out through his nose heavily. ]

And there's a whole sky separating us too. Can any of us reach each other without Thras?
