[Listen, Hisui, he bought you that food, you owed him.
Kor heads over to the pantry and starts searching for food. Admittedly, part of the reason his stomach woke him up so early was because it was looking forward to eating some rather delectable looking pastries he'd picked up at the bakery yesterday for breakfast. Except--]
[ He'll pay you back later, geez. Let him get settled in first.
Hisui pauses, having just taken a huge bite out of his breakfast. Well...apparently it wasn't his. He was so hungry he grabbed the first thing he saw that looked tasty enough. ]
What, y'mean these? [ Well, Hisui has already claimed at least one of them. Or half, but close enough. Sorry, Kor.] What're you doin', putting your food where anyone can get to it? Put a label on it or something!
[ Because clearly this is Kor's fault, not Hisui's. ]
[ You know who else is tired and hungry? Hisui. And he's not about to take this crap.
His ears flatten and he scowls, putting the plate on the table in favor of an angry gesture. In his irritation, his pupils narrow to more cat-like slits, and a few of his teeth sharpen. ]
What else was I supposed to do, stand here and starve? Besides, I was gonna pay you back later!
[ That bit is true, at least. Hisui doesn't like owing people, even if he only realized just now that his breakfast didn't actually belong to him. This isn't like all the shared meals they've had on the road, after all. ]
If you really wanted to make sure people knew they were yours, you shoulda made 'em yourself!
[ He hasn't forgotten the banana crepes, Kor. He will never forget. ]
Well, what the hell else am I supposed to eat? The table?!
[ It's true. He feels like he could eat that entire pantry right then and there. But...well, Kor has a point. This is his food, after all, not Hisui's. And he still owes him for all the dumplings he bought him a few days ago. As much as he'd like to argue that he needs the food more than Kor, it's a tough argument with that weighing on his conscience. ]
Ugh, fine. Here.
[ He slides the plate across the table towards Kor. He's keeping the half-eaten one, though. Taking a bite out of it automatically means he's got dibs, and you're not changing his mind on that. ]
Ah-! [He quickly sits himself down at the other end of the table and catches the plate. He stares at the pastry for a brief second like he's been handed a divine gift from the gods themselves, truly in awe of its radiant splendor.
But only a second. Then he picks it up and takes a bite out of it. All that anger he was feeling over his pilfered pastries, gone in an instant now that his mouth is full of doughy goodness.]
You know, there's tons of other stuff you could have eaten. [Said with cheeks full of that delicious pastry.] Like cereal! Cats like milk, right?
[ That worked almost a bit too well. But hey, at least it got the kid to stop fussing at him. Hisui just wants to eat breakfast in peace (even if it isn't necessarily his breakfast).
Although now it's Hisui's turn to get heated, thanks to Kor's comment. When is this kid going to stop being a moron?! ]
I'm not a cat, dumbass! [ Says the guy with the wiggly cat ears on his head. At least most of those other feline traits from earlier seem to have vanished...except for a set of fangs. That might take a bit. ] And quit talkin' with your mouth full!
[ Geez. ]
Look, it was the first thing I saw that I felt like eating. Besides, there wasn't enough milk, anyway.
[He swallows down that pastry.] Ah, crap, right. I forgot we were low on milk.
[You should be amazed he's survived this long without accidentally starving himself, Hisui.]
What do you mean you aren't a cat, though? You've got those soft-looking cat ears on your head! [He gestures to those furry triangles perched on top of Hisui's head.]
Hey, I never asked for these things! And they ain't soft! [ They're totally soft, but good luck getting that out of him. ] Just 'cause I have furry ears don't mean I'm a damn cat!
[ ...he says this, but then those eyes and teeth show up again. He really isn't helping his own argument, here. ]
They ain't cute! [ They're totally cute. ] And no, I don't! Just a buncha fur.
[ Although if Hisui gets any more worked up, a tail is bound to appear, given the pattern so far. He hopes it won't be as fluffy as his ears are, although knowing his luck it probably will be. ]
Tch. At least one of us is getting a kick out of this. Bet you'd be thrilled to wake up with a pair of fuzzy ears on your head, huh?
Yeah, doesn't seem so bad to me! [He says, sounding almost painfully cheerful about it considering how mad he was over pastries a few moments ago.]
I'd probably wake up and watch 'em wiggle in the mirror. Probably poke them a couple times too to make sure they were real. Once I got used to it, it'd be pretty great, I'd say!
[He deflates a little now.]
At least... it's gotta be better than learning all this magic...
[ In retrospect, Kor absolutely seems like the type to get a kick out of having cat ears. The mental image of it alone just makes too much sense. Though, who knows how well he'd handle the rest of what comes with being a monster. Hisui doesn't remember dealing with too much trouble last time he was here, but somehow things coming along more slowly is making it more difficult.
He can't help but snarl - actually snarl - at Kor's remark about magic, though. Maybe he's grumpy because he just woke up and he's hungry. Maybe he's upset because he's still adjusting to not having his artes. But still, Kor continues to find ways to grate his nerves a little. ]
At least you have magic. [ With that, he shoves the entire rest of his pastry in his mouth. Not that there was much left, but still. ] 'sides, it ain't that hard to learn.
Maybe to you. You were incredible with Will Artes, even without a Soma!
[He definitely couldn't understate how strong Hisui's Will Artes were. Sure, he wasn't Lithia, or even Beryl, but he definitely was strong.]
Gramps never taught me how to use Will Artes, never even tried to. I guess he had his reasons, if he was worried about Creed, but... Still, even after months, I don't feel like I get this magic stuff.
[Kor shoves the rest of his pastry in his mouth, chewing it hastily and swallowing it down.]
I'm built for saving Spirias, not slinging spells!

No... Of course I wouldn't expect you to starve... [He frowns a little. He couldn't do that to Hisui... But that's not the problem.]
But that's beside the point! I bought those to treat myself with, at least gimme one back, come on!
