[Expert ghost hunters, these two. One overconfident and disbelieving, the other not intimidated by them actually existing. This won't go poorly at all.

Soren pulls the boat with Kor, leading it into the water. It floats! No holes, perfectly good shape and big enough for the two of them. Soren's already looking forward to the cash reward of this, he could throw a real rager at the mansion after this!]

Probably got scaaaared of the ghost, huh? Good thing, I guess, helps us out! [he hops right into the boat and sits down. there was just one oar left, which was a hassle, but they could manage]

Lets get out there and grab the prize, man.

[Kor follows suit, hopping into the boat after him. There definitely wasn't much room left in the boat for much else, but at least it held the two of them perfectly fine. Hopefully the boat itself held up on the water.

Since Kor's such a nice guy, he even takes that single oar and starts rowing along, their progress slow due to having just the one. But at least it's movement.]

So hey, [row] if this ghost is real, [row] what are you gonna do about it? [~~fight the powah~~ row]

If it's real... yeah, sure. Guess I'll let you fight it! If you know what to do with ghosts. [all said very flippantly, Soren still not believing it's possible. Eyes on the prize, all that-

Though his shoulders do tighten into the back of his neck, Soren jolting to rub the back of his head. Cold breeze? That's it. They're getting out into the lake is all! The mist is going to be chilly! He brushes it off]

People just see stuff out in the fog. Totally normal!

[Kor doesn't pick up on Soren's sudden change in body language, too distracted by his claim there.]

Huh? What do you mean you'll let me? You're helping fight it too, y'know, we're a team here!

[He didn't notice Soren's body language, but he does notice a strange sound now that they're pretty far out into the lake.]

...Hey, do you hear that?

[It's a strange sound that sounds like someone moaning... And it sounds close.]

[Soren makes the conscious decision to be a little shit-]

No way! You're the one saying you know how to fight a ghost? [he talks right over the warning moan and Kor's warning, just... really deserving what's coming to him]

Whaaaat, can't take care of one on your own now? Too scary-?

["TurN baCK NOww!" rings out directly behind Soren, causing him to practically jump out of his armor. He throws himself down to duck into the boat, twisting to look behind himself!

Nothing. Nothing!?]

N, not cool!

[Kor looks at Soren's overblown reaction with a perplexed look on his face. Sure, he heard that voice come from directly behind Soren too, but since he was looking in that direction the entire time, he could clearly see there was nothing there.

But what he can see is Soren being a big baby.]

Geez... If you're gonna wet your pants over a ghost, maybe I shouldn't want your help dealing with it.

[Kor can be a little shit too.]

I'm not- [He only gets so far before he's lashed out at. Invisible claws rake across his exposed face, drawing blood. Soren grunts and grits his teeth, hand reaching to clasp his own chin. When he pulls his glove away and sees blood-

Well, that's a wake up call. Suddenly, he's serious. Who would have guessed-]

Fine! Fine, I get it, it's real- how do you even fight a ghost? [the entity laughs vindictively, air and fog all still around them. The voice continues to talk, but it's not fully audible, volume low and indistinct. What is it trying to say?]

Hmm... Good point. It's gonna be pretty hard to fight her on this tiny boat, so...

[Really, Kor, that's what you interpreted Soren's problem as?

Kor does have a point, though. Fighting on their tiny boat wasn't feasible without them capsizing it. So instead he waves his hand in the air, hoping to attract the ghost's attention.]

Umm... Excuse me! Miss Ghost! Sorry to disturb your final rest, but... We're not here for any trouble with you, we're just investigating the treasure here!

[The voice hisses, water bubbling around the boat and fog swirling;

"Thieves and liars, all men who venture here!"]

Urg, what is your problem? Move on- [Soren groans, only to get slices at again by the ghastly force. The witch pulls his glove off with his teeth and puts his palm over his bloodied skin, warming it with healing magic. Further angered, the force shifts the boat beneath them, working a momentum of it from side to side, as if working to flip it over]

What do you want, lady!? [Soren clutches the side of the boat to steady himself inside of it, looking to Kor to be sure he's holding tight, too. Not letting his partner get thrown overboard, not on his watch. He'd reach out and grab tight to Kor if needed to keep them steady.

"Tell what you hide! Speak truth or face the only misery I know!"]
